Week 4 Story: The Enchanted Roses

Yet, why was the Beast so mangled? Savvy looked upon his face and tried to understand. She thought, what could be so awful that happened to him to make him so cruel as to take my from my family? Sadly, the Beast was not offering any answers any time soon.

Over the next few weeks Savvy would sneak out into the castle halls while the Beast was out hunting. She knew better than to try and escape for she had numerous failed attempts at sneaking home. Once, she tied up the sheets from her bed and tried to shimmy down them to the ground from her room, but the sheets came apart and she fell several stories to what she could only assume would be her death when the Beast heard her scream and caught her before she reached the ground.

A couple days later Savvy tried again to flee the castle, this time by foot at night. She started down through the thicket of trees that guarded the castle, but just as she made her way through the trees a pack of wolves began tracking her every move. They were big and grey, with teeth as sharp as razors. Savvy fled for her life, running through the trees and back to the castle but the wolves only grew closer. She raced as fast as her legs would carry her; scratching her arms and her legs on the trees as she whipped through them, but one of the wolves caught up to her and took a bite from the hood of her coat. She let out a yelp and fell to her knees. The wolves surrounded her, waiting for the right time to strike her. The alpha laid it's cold, stone eyes upon her and she shivered with fear. Savvy closed her eyes and waited for the wolves to attack her for she was defenseless. Yet, just before the wolves pounced the Beast leaped over them and to Savvy's rescue. He let out a roar so loud that it made the wolves shiver. He fought them off one by one until they finally gave up and scurried off back into the woods. The Beast was angry with Savvy for leaving the castle and told her that if she tried to leave again he would let the wolves eat her next time.

So Savvy stayed at the castle, and although she longed to see her mother and her brother Joshua, she kind of liked the the castle. Everything was antique but shined as if brand new. She spent most of her time in the library reading or sewing in her bedroom, but she knew that the Beast would eventually grow tired of her ignoring his invitations to dinner and demand that she meet him downstairs so she prepared herself for what she was certain would be the worst dinner of her life...
